December 15, 2010 Game 30: Devils SHUTOUT Coyotes 3-0
The New Jersey Devils and Martin Brodeur shutout the Phoenix
Coyotes at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. The
shutout was the 113th of Brodeur's career.
Ilya Kovalchuk beat Ilya Bryzgalov at 5:30 of the first period to
give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Dainius Zubrus was credited with the only
assist on Kovalchuk's sixth goal of the season.
Mark Fayne made it 2-0 Devils with a goal at 13:18.
Fayne's first career NHL goal was assisted by Patrik Elias and Travis
Zajac.
The Devils outshot the Coyotes 11-10 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 2-0.
Neither team scored in the second period. The Coyotes
outshot the Devils 11-8 in the period.
Ilya Kovalchuk scored his second goal of the game at 4:49 of the
third period. The goal came on a 5 on 3 power-play and was assisted by
Travis Zajac and Patrik Elias.
The Devils outshot the Coyotoes 10-8 in the third period.
