February 06, 2011 Game 53: Devils Beat Canadiens 4-1
The New Jersey Devils were victorious, 4-1 over the Canadiens in
Montreal on Sunday, February 6, 2011.
Dainius Zubrus got the Devils on the board early, by beating
Carey Price just 1:12 into the first period. Zubrus' 10th goal of the
season was scored unassisted.
Ilya Kovalchuk made it 2-0 New Jersey with a goal at 4:04.
Colin White and Travis Zajac assisted on Kovalchuk's 16th goal of the
season.
The Canadiens outshot the Devils 11-10 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading 2-0.
Johan Hedberg started the second period in goal for the
Devils.
Travis Zajac added a goal just 3:16 into the second period to
give the Devils a three goal lead. Anton Volchenkov assisted on Zajac's
ninth goal of the season.
PK Subban beat Hedberg at 6:32 to get the Canadiens on the
board.
The Devils outshot the Habs 14-5 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 3-1.
Ilya Kovalchuk added an empty net goal without putting the puck
in the net at 18:39 of the third period.
