November 21, 2011 Game 19: Devils Blow 3 Goal First Period Lead, Panthers Win 4-3
The New Jersey Devils lost 3-4 to the Panthers in Florida on
Monday, November 21, 2011. The Panthers scored four unanswered goals
to blow the Devils 3 goal first period lead.
Ilya Kovalchuk puck the puck behind Jose Theodore at 8:17 of the
first period to give New Jersey a 1-0 lead. Henrik Tallinder and Andy
Greene assisted on Kovalchuk's fourth goal of the season.
Petr Sykora gave the Devils a two goal lead when he scored just
1:09 after Kovalchuk's goal. Adam Larsson and Andy Greene were credited
with assists on Sykora's fourth goal of the season.
A goal from Dainius Zubrus made it 3-0 at 11:49. Zubrus'
sixth goal of the season was assisted by Patrik Elias.
Kris Versteeg got the Panthers on the board with a goal that beat
Martin Brodeur at 5:28 of the second period. Versteeg made it a one goal
game when his shot bounced off of Mark Fayne and past Brodeur at 10:40
Stephen Weiss scored a short-handed goal at 9:12 of the third
period to tie the game. Tomas Fleischmann won the game for the Panthers
with a goal at 17:57.
