December 31, 2011 Game 37: Devils Finish 2011 with 3-1 Win Over Penguins
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-1 victory at home over the
Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, December 31, 2011.
Ilya Kovalchuk gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a penalty shot
goal that beat Marc-Andre Fleury at 14:43 of the first period.
David Clarkson scored a 5 on 3 power-play goal with 24 seconds
remaining in the first period to give New Jersey a 2 goal lead. Patrik
Elias and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on Clarkson's 13th goal of the season.
Chris Kunitz got the Penguins on the board with a power-play
goal that beat Martin Brodeur at 9:25 of the third period.
Zach Parise added an empty net goal to seal the Devils victory at
19:10. Patrik Elias and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on Parise's 13th goal
of the season.
