February 21, 2012 Game 59: Devils Beat Maple Leafs: 4-3 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils beat the Leafs 4-3 in overtime in Toronto
on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
Petr Sykora gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Jonas Gustavsson at 9:44 of the first period. Adam Henrique and Matt
Taormina assisted on Sykora's 14th goal of the season.
A snap shot from David Clarkson made it 2-0 at 14:16. His
23rd goal of the season was assisted by Patrik Elias and Petr Sykora.
Just 16 seconds after Clarkson's goal, Tim Connolly beat Martin
Brodeur to make it a one goal game.
Clarke MacCarthur tied the game with a gaol at 14:43 of the
second period.
Alexei Ponikarovsky made it 3-2 with a goal at 18:11.
Dainius Zubrus and Anton Volchenkov assisted on Ponikarovsky's 11th oal of the
season.
With Toronto's net empty, Phil Kessel scored with just 44 seconds
remaining in regulation time, to send the game to overtime.
Mark Fayne scored 1:18 into the overtime to win the game, 4-3.
Adam Henrique and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on Fayne's fourth goal of the
season.
