March 25, 2012 Game 76: Devils Fail in Pittsburgh: 2-5
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-5 to the Penguins in Pittsburgh on
Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Evgeni Malkin surprised Martin Brodeur behind the net and his
pass to Chris Kunitz led to the first goal of the game just 1:04 in.
Zach Parise took a great pass from Cindy Crosby and put it behind
Marc-Andre Fluery at 5:10 to tie the game, 1-1. Parise's 30th goal of
the season was scored unassisted.
Jordan Staal beat Martin Brodeur at 19:04 to give the Penguins a
2-1 lead.
Pascal Dupuis scored at 15:34 of the second period to make it a
two goal Pittsburgh lead.
Ilya Kovalchuk beat Fluery at 3:37 of the third period to cut the
Pens lead to a single goal. Travis Zajac and Alexei Ponikarovsky
assisted on Kovalchuk's 32nd goal of the season.
Sidney Crosby beat Marek Zidlicky at the blue line and put the
puck behind Brodeur at 4:55 to make it 4-2 Pittsburgh. Evgeni Malkin
added an empty net goal at 18:28.
