Game 81: Devils BEAT Red Wings 2-1

    The New Jersey Devils skated to a 2-1 victory over the Red Wings in Detroit on Thursday, April 5, 2012.

    Alexei Ponikarovsky beat Jimmy Howard at 10:13 of the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.   Peter Harrold and David Clarkson assisted on Ponikarovsky's 14th goal of the season.

    Tomas Holmstrom put the puck in the net behind Martin Brodeur at 5:48 of the second period on a power-play to tie the game, 1-1.

    Petr Sykora's 20th goal of the season gave the Devils a 2-1 lead at 11:20 of the third period.   Patrik Elias and Dainius Zubrus assisted on the goal.
