April 07, 2012 Game 82: 6th Straight, Devils Beat Senators 4-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-2 at home
on Saturday, April 7, 2012. The Devils now head into the playoffs with
a six game winning streak.
Matt Gilroy beat Martin Brodeur at 10:59 to give Ottawa a 1-0
lead.
Ilya Kovalchuk evened the game with a power-play goal that beat
Craig Anderson at 15:26. Patrik Elias and Peter Harrold assisted on
Kovalchuk's 36th goal of the season.
Jim O'Brien scored at 13:59 of the second period to make it 2-1
Senators.
The Devils tied the game with another power-play goal, this time
from Petr Sykora at 17:43. Sykora's 21st goal of the season was assisted
by Adam Henrique and Dainius Zubrus.
Stephen Gionta scored his first goal of the seson at 10:55 of the
third period. Alexei Ponikarovsky and Steve Bernier assisted on the
goal.
Ilya Kovalchuk added an empty net goal with 43 seconds left in
regulation time to seal the Devils victory.
