The New Jersey Devils lost 2-4 at home to the Carolina Hurricanes
on Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
Ilya Kovalchuk scored the first goal of the game, at 15:59 of the
first period, but play continued for about 3 more minutes until a whistle was
blown and the review confirmed a goal had been scored. Kovalchuk's fifth
goal of the season was scored on a power-play and was assisted by Marek
Zidlicky and Patrik Elias.
Jussi Jokinen tied the game with a power-play goal that beat
Martin Brodeur just 1:36 into the second period. Patrick Dwyer gave the
Hurricanes a 2-1 lead with a goal at 18:29.
Ryan Carter evened the score with a goal just 1:34 into the third
period. Carter's second goal of the season was scored unassisted.
Jiri Tlusty beat Brodeur at 7:25 to make it 3-2 Carolina, and he
added an empty net goal with 34 seconds remaining to give the Hurricanes the
