March 05, 2013 Game 23: Lightning Outplay & Beat Devils 5-2
The New Jersey Devils were defeated 5-2 at home, by the Tampa Bay
Lightning on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
Nate Thompson beat Johan Hedberg at 17:04 of the first period to
give Tampa Bay the 1-0 lead.
Martin St. Louis scored at 5:53 of the second period to make it
a 2-0 Lightning lead. When Alexander Killorn made it 3-0 at 13:13, that
sent Hedberg to the bench, and rookie Keith Kincaid tookover in the Devils
net.
Nate Thompson scored at 8:36 of the third period to make it a
commanding 4-0 lead.
Adam Henrique got the Devils on the board with a short-handed
goal at 13:44. Ryan Carter was credited with the only assist on
Henrique's sixth goal of the season.
Patrik Elias added a power-play goal at 15:15 to cut Tampa's lead
to two goals. Travis Zajac and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on Elias' sixth
goal of the season.
B.J. Crombeen made it 5-2 with an empty net goal at 18:40.
