March 13, 2013 Game 27: Devils PUMMEL Flyers 5-2
The New Jersey Devils crushed the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 at the
Prudential Center on Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
Patrik Elias got the Devils on the scoreboard first with a great
goal that beat Ilya Bryzgalov at 2:02 of the first period. Adam Henrique
and Steve Bernier assisted on Elias' ninth goal of the season.
The Flyers tied the game with a power-play goal from Jakub
Voracek that beat Johan Hedberg at 9:45.
It only took 36 seconds for New Jersey to re-gain the lead.
Adam Henrique shot the puck off a Flyer skate at 10:21 to make it a 2-1
Devils lead. Patrik Elias and Johan Hedberg assisted on Henrique's
eighth goal of the season.
Ilya Kovalchuk added a short-handed goal at 17:18 to increase the
Devils lead to two goals. Stephen Gionta was credited with the only
assist on Kovalchuk's 10th goal of the season.
Andrei Loktionov scored at 6:31 of the second period to make it a
4-1 Devils lead. Loktionov's fourth goal of the season was assisted by
Alexei Ponikarovsky.
A power-play goal from Adam Henrique 1:16 into the third period
gave the Devils a commanding 5-1 lead. Andrei Loktionov and Marek
Zidlicky assisted on Henrique's ninth goal of the season.
Scott Hartnell scored at 16:08 to cut the Devils lead to a mere
three goals.
