March 21, 2013 Game 31: BRODEUR & Devils SMASH Hurricanes 4-1
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 4-1 victory over the Hurricanes
in Raleigh on Thursday, March 21, 2013.
Martin Brodeur skated down the ice and scored a power-play goal
at 3:54 of the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Brodeur's
first goal of the season was scored unassisted. (So, he didn't skate
down the ice with the puck, but he was the last Devil to touch the puck, so the
goal was credited to him when it went into the Canes net).
Adam Henrique scored a 4 on 4 goal at 12:52 of the second period
to make it a 2-0 Devils lead. Ilya Kovalchuk and Adam Larsson assisted
on Henrique's 10th goal of the season.
Peter Harrold made it 3-0 with a goal just 46 seconds after
Henrique's. Patrik Elias and Travis Zajac assisted on Harrold's second
goal of the season.
Jeff Skinner ruined Brodeur's shutout bid with a power-play goal
at 11:27 of the third period.
Andrei Loktionov added a power-play goal at 16:54 to make it a
4-1 Devils lead. Steve Bernier and Travis Zajac assisted on Loktionov's
fifth goal of the season.
