October 23, 2001 Devils Defeat Senators 2-1
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Ottawa Senators
2-1 in Ottawa, Tuesday, October 23, 2001.
Due to a power outage in the arena, the Devils game
against the Ottawa Senators was delayed about 1 hour and 20 minutes
- it began at 8:20PM.
After one period, the Devils and Senators are tied 0-0.
The Senators outshot the Devils 13-5 in the period.
Each team was 0-1 on the power-play.
Petr Sykora scored for the Devils at 5:54 in the second
period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. His goal was assisted by
Patrik Elias and Scott Stevens.
Wade Redden scored for Ottawa to tie the game 1-1 at
10:29.
The second period ended with the game tied, 1-1.
New Jersey outshot Ottawa 12-8 in the period. No penalties
were assessed to either team in the second period.
Patrik Elias scored at 9:48 in the third to give the
Devils a 2-1 lead that they would not give up. Brian Rafalski
and Scott Stevens got assists on the goal.
The game ended with the Devils victorious, winning
by one goal. Ottawa outshot the Devils 8-6 in the period and
29-23 in the game.
The Devils now have a 3 game winning streak.
Ottawa has yet to win a game at home.
