February 12, 2002 Devils Tie Sabres, 2-2
The New Jersey Devils tied the Sabres 2-2 in Buffalo on
Tuesday, February 12, 2002.
Maxim Afinogenov beat Martin Brodeur on the power-play at
16:10 of the first period to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead.
The first period saw a combined 50 total penalty minutes
and one goal for the Sabres. The Sabres outshot the Devils 7-3
in the period.
Jason Arnott got his 4th goal in two games at 14:56 of
the second period to tie the game, 1-1. Scott Niedermayer and Colin
White assisted on Arnott's 21st goal of the season.
The second period ended with the game tied, 1-1. The
Devils outshot the Sabres 14-6 in the period.
John Madden scored for the Devils at 2:11 of the third
period to give the Devils a 2-1 lead. Brian Rafalski got the only
assist on Madden's 9th goal of the season.
Taylor Pyatt beat Brodeur at 18:10 of the third period to
tie the game, 2-2.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 2-2. The
Devils outshot the Sabres 8-6 in the period.
The five minute overtime ended without a change on the
scoreboard. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
