December 06, 2003 Game 25: Devils Pull Out Late Victory Over Senators, 2-1
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Senators, 2-1, in Ottawa, on
Saturday, December 6, 2003. The Devils came back to score twice in the
final minutes of the game.
Daniel Alfredsson beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play, just 2:26
into the first period to give the Senators an early 1-0 lead.
The first period ended with Ottawa leading New Jersey, 1-0.
The Devils outshot the Senators 7-6 in the period.
There was no scoring in the second period, though the Senators
outshot the Devils 7-5.
Scott Niedermayer tied the game by deflecting a shot from Patrik
Elias past Martin Prusek. Niedermayer's sixth goal of the season came
with just 1:37 remaining in the third period.
Brian Gionta pushed the puck past Prusek on a wraparound with
just 18 seconds remaining. Gionta's fifth goal of the season was
assisted by Jay Pandolfo and John Madden.
The game ended with the Devils winning by a score of 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Senators 8-6 in the third period and 20-19 in the
game.
