January 13, 2004 Game 42: Senators Walk All Over Devils, Win 4-0
The New Jersey Devils lost at home, 4-0 to the Ottawa
Senators on Tuesday, January 13, 2004.
The Senators took a 1-0 lead at 8:04 of the first period when
Marian Hossa beat Martin Brodeur. The first period ended with Ottawa
leading, 1-0. The Senators outshot the Devils, 8-5 in the period.
Bryan Smolinkski beat Martin Brodeur at 17:57 of the second
period to give the Senators a 2-0 lead. Marian Hossa got his second goal
of the game just 1:13 later, on the power-play to increase the lead.
The second period ended with the Senators leading the Devils,
3-0. The Senators outshot the Devils 9-3 in the period.
Josh Langfeld recorded his first goal of the season at 16:08 of
the third period at the expense of Martin Brodeur and the Devils.
The Devils outshot the Senators 18-4 in the third period, but
were unable to put the pcuk past Lalime. The game ended with the Devils
falling to the Senators, 4-0.
The Devils still lead the season series, 2-1. The teams
will meet one more time before the end of the season, in New Jersey on February
3, 2004.
