October 16, 2004A Cruel Reality Sets In
Last night (Friday, October 15, 2004) should have been the New
Jersey Devils 2004-2005 season opener. It was to be a game played at
home against the Toronto Maple Leafs -- but, there is no NHL hockey now.
The Devils have missed their first game - and tonight, they will
not play their second scheduled game of the season. The pain of the NHL
lockout of it's players is now too real. With rolling 30-day schedule
cancellations, and no end to the lockout in sight (the sides have not even met
since the lockout was announced), it's now apparent that most, if not all of
the 2004-2005 season will be cancelled.
