October 28, 2005 Game 10: Devils Beat Sabres: 3-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2 at home
on Friday, October 28, 2005. The win got the Devs back to a .500 record
(5-5-0).
There was no scoring in the first period. The Devils
outshot the Sabres 12-7 in the period.
Erik Rasmussen beat Ryan Miller at 16:42 of the second period
to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Grant Marshall and Alexander Mogilny
assisted on Rasmussen's first goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Sabres,
1-0. The Devils outshot the Sabres 9-4 in the period.
Scott Gomez blasted the puck through Miller at 3:51 of the third
period to increase the Devils lead. Gomez's second goal of the season
was assisted by Sergei Brylin.
Daniel Briere was credited with a power-play goal at 12:15 that
deflected off a skate past Scott Clemmensen to get the Sabres on the board.
Chris Drury beat Clemmensen just 1:29 later to tie the game, 2-2.
Sergei Brylin regained the Devils lead by deflecting a shot from
Brian Rafalski past Miller on a power-play at 14:37. Brylin's sixth goal
of the season was also assisted by Paul Martin.
The game ended with the Devils defeating the Sabres, 3-2.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 15-6 in the third period.
Colin White & Martin Brodeur (knee) both were scratched for the
Devils. Ari Ahonen was recalled from Albany to backup Scott
Clemmensen.
