December 02, 2006Game 25: Devils Win 4-3 in Shootout Over Flyers 4-3
The New Jersey Devils beat the Flyers 4-3 in a shootout in
Philadelphia on Saturday, December 2, 2006.
Todd Fedoruk put the puck past Martin Brodeur just 1:37 into the
first period to give Philadelphia an early 1-0 lead. Randy Jones made it
2-0 Flyers with a goal at 17:08.
Zach Parise got the Devils on the board with he beat Antero
Niittymaki just 49 seconds after Jones' goal. Scott Gomez and Colin
White assisted on Parise's ninth goal of the season.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 10-7 in the period, which ended
with the Flyers leading, 2-1.
Patrik Elias scored at 13:00 of the second period to tie the
game, 2-2. Paul Martin and Sergei Brylin assisted on Elias' seventh goal
of the season.
The second period ended with the game tied, 2-2. The
Devils outshot the Flyers 11-6 in the period.
Mike Knuble beat Brodeur just 24 seconds into the third period on
a power-play to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead.
Brad Lukowich scored the Devils first short-handed goal of the
season with just 2:12 left in the third period to tie the game, 3-3. John
Madden and Jay Pandolfo assisted on Lukowich's first goal of the season.
