December 16, 2006 Game 31: Devils Lose at Home 1-2 to Red Wings
The New Jersey Devils lost 1-2 at home to the Detroit Red Wings
on Saturday, December 16, 2006. The loss extends the Devils losing
streak to three games.
The Red Wings outshot the Devils 13-6 in the first period, which
ended with neither team scoring a goal.
Scott Gomez gave the Devils a 1-0 lead at 10:57 of the second
period, when he beat Dominik Hasek on a power-play. Gomez's fourth goal
of the season was assisted by Brian Gionta and Jamie Langenbrunner.
The Devils outshot Detroit 12-11 in the second period, and led
1-0 on the scoreboard.
Pavel Datsyuk beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 8:27 of the
third period to tie the game, 1-1. Brett Lebda gave Detroit a 2-1 lead
with a goal at 10:43.
The game ended with Detroit winning, 2-1. The Red Wings
outshot the Devils 12-4 in the third period and 36-22 in the game.
