October 27, 2007 Game 10: Devils Home Opener: Fall To Senators 1-4
The New Jersey Devils lost their home opener at the new
Prudential Center 1-4 to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, October 27,
2007.
The Devils outshot the Senators 18-5 in the first period, but
neither team scored in the period.
Andrej Meszaros beat Martin Brodeur at 5:01 of the second period
to give the Ottawa Senators a 1-0 lead.
Brian Gionta evened the score with a power-play goal at 14:00 of
the second period. Patrik Elias and Paul Martin assisted on Gionta's
third goal of the season.
The score was tied, 1-1 at the end of the second period, in which
the Senators outshot the Devils 10-5.
Shean Donovan scored 6:40 into the third period to give Ottawa a
2-1 lead. Mike Fisher made it a two goal Senators lead with a power-play
goal at 13:34. Daniel Alfredsson hammered in the final nail with a
short-handed empty net goal at 19:58.
