December 16, 2007 Game 33: Devils Beat Flyers 4-2
The New Jersey Devils beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 at the
Prudential Center on Sunday, December 16, 2007.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 14-8 in the first period, but
neither team scored a goal in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Mike Richards beat Martin Brodeur just 40 seconds into the second
period with a power-play goal to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead.
John Madden tied the game with a power-play goal that beat Antero
Niittymaki at 2:49. Madden's ninth goal of the season was assisted by
Karel Rachunek.
Martin Brodeur successfully stopped Daniel Briere's penalty shot
attempt at 9:32.
John Madden scored a short-handed goal at 10:12 to give the
Devils a 2-1 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on Madden's second goal
of the game.
Arron Asham gave the Devils a 3-1 lead with a goal at 13:57.
Zach Parise and Travis Zajac assisted on Asham's fourth goal of the
season.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 15-14 in the second period, and led
3-1 on the scoreboard.
Daniel Briere scored a power-play goal at 6:44 of the third
period to get the Flyers within a goal.
Jamie Langenbrunner sealed the win with an empty net goal at
19:55. John Madden assisted on Langenbrunner's fifth goal of the
season.
