April 06, 2008 Game 82: Devils Finally Beat Rangers: 3-2 (Shootout)
The New Jersey Devils avoided the season sweep with a 3-2
shootout victory at home over the New York Rangers on Sunday, April 6,
2008.
John Madden gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Henrik Lundqvist at 4:26 of the first period. Madden's 20th goal of the
season was assisted by Brian Gionta and Paul Martin.
The Devils took a 2-0 lead with a goal from Mike Rupp at 12:57.
Dainius Zubrus assisted on Rupp's third goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 11-2 and outscored them 2-0 in the
first period.
Chris Drury got the Rangers on the board with a goal that beat
Martin Brodeur just 19 seconds into the second period.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Rangers, 2-1.
The Rangers outshot the Devils 10-5 in the period.
