Game 15: Rangers Defeat Devils 5-2

    The New Jersey Devils lost 2-5 at home to the New York Rangers on Wednesday, November 12, 2008.

    Travis Zajac beat Henrik Lundqvist at 7:04 of the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.   Mike Mottau and Zach Parise assisted on Zajac's second goal of the season.

    The Devils outshot the Rangers 13-5 in the first period, which ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.

    Michal Rozsival put the puck past Kevin Weekes on a 5 on 3 power-play to tie the game at 7:45 of the second period.   Chris Drury gave the Rangers their first lead of the game with a goal 1:39 later.   Lauri Korpikoski made it 3-1 with a goal just 29 seconds later.   Another Ranger 5 on 3 power-play goal at 15:50 increased the Rangers lead to 3 goals.

    The Rangers outshot the Devils 20-9 in the second period, scoring four unanswered goals to make it 4-1 Rangers.

    Scott Clemmensen started the third period in net for New Jersey.

    Jamie Langenbrunner got the Devils back within two goals of New York with a power-play goal at 4:19 of the third period.

    Zherdev scored his second goal of the game at 9:51 to give the Rangers a 5-2 lead.

    The Rangers outshot the Devils 17-10 in the third period and 42-32 in the game.
