December 06, 2008 Game 24: Devils Beat Canadiens: 2-1 Overtime
The New Jersey Devils won their second overtime game in a row,
when they defeated the Canadiens 2-1 in Montreal on December 6, 2008.
Matt D'Agostini beat Scott Clemmensen at 15:35 of the first
period to give Montreal a 1-0 lead.
The Habs led 1-0 at the end of the first period, in which they
outshot the Devils 13-7.
Jamie Langenbrunner scored his fourth goal of the season at 4:05
of the second period to tie the game, 1-1.
The Devils outshot the Canadiens 11-9 in the second period, which
ended with the teams tied, 1-1.
The third period ended with the teams still tied. The
Devils outshot the Habs 11-4 in the third.
Zach Parise scored the overtime winner just 31 seconds in on a
power-play to win the game for New Jersey. Patrik Elias and Paul Martin
assisted on Parise's 15th goal of the season.
