January 13, 2009 Game 43: Devils Defeat Canucks 5-3
The New Jersey Devils beat the Canucks 5-3 in Vancouver on
Tuesday, January 13, 2009.
Brian Rolston beat Jason Labarbera just 1:05 into the first
period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. David Clarkson and John Madden
assisted on Rolston's eighth goal of the season.
Zach Parise increased the Devils leading, scoring his 25th goal
of the season at 3:29. Travis Zajac and Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on
the goal.
Labarbera was replaced by Curtis Sanford after the Devils' second
goal and Brian Gionta beat him at 11:07. Gionta's 11th goal of the
season was assisted by Dainius Zubrus and Patrik Elias.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Canucks, 3-0.
The Devils outshot the Canucks 12-4 in the period.
Alex Burrows got Vancouver on the board, when he beat Scott
Clemmensen at 11:01 of the second period.
The second period ended with the Devils leading, 3-1. The
Canucks outshot the Devils 13-10 in the period.
Travis Zajac scored his 12th goal of the season at 4:19 of the
third period, to give the Devils their second three goal lead of the game.
Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise assisted on the goal.
Pavel Demitra got the Canucks back within two goals of New Jersey
with a goal at 12:19. Steve Bernier made it a one goal game at
17:19.
Dainius Zubrus was credited with a goal and Patrik Elias with an
assist at 19:21, when the Canucks deflected the puck into their own empty
net.
