The New Jersey Devils beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 on Sunday,
March 1, 2009. The shutout was the 100th of Martin Brodeur's
Jamie Langenbrunner buried the first shot of the game at 3:51 of
the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. The goal that beat
Martin Biron was the 20th of the season for the Devils captain and was assisted
by Zach Parise and Travis Zajac.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 11-10 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
Brian Gionta tipped a shot from Johnny Oduya past Biron, just 37
seconds into the second period to give New Jersey a 2-0 lead. The goal
was the 14th of the season for Gionta.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 18-6 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leadng, 2-0.
Johnny Oduya scored at 4:48 of the third period to give the
Devils a 3-0 lead. David Clarkson and Brendan Shanahan assisted on
Oduya's fifth goal of the season.
