April 07, 2009 Game 80: Leafs Beat Devils 4-1
The New Jersey Devils lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-4 in
Newark on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
Mikhail Grabovski gave Toronto a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Martin Brodeur at 9:54 of the first period. Jeffrey Hamilton made it a
two goal lead at 11:13. Chris Hanson scored his first NHL goal at 15:56
to make it a 3-0 Leafs lead.
The Devils outshot the Leafs 17-9 in the first period, which
ended with Toronto leading, 3-0.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Martin Gerber on a power-play at 18:53
of the second period, to get the Devils on the board. Paul Martin was
credited with the only assist of Langenbrunner's 29th goal of the
season.
The second period ended with Toronto leading 3-1. The
Devils outshot the Leafs 18-5 in the period.
John Mitchell scored just 1:34 in the final period to give the
Leafs a 4-1 lead.
