December 18, 2009 Game 33: Devils Defeat Senators 4-2
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 4-2 victory at home over the
Ottawa Senators on Friday, December 18, 2009.
Jamie Langenbrunner got the Devils on the board with a goal that
beat Brian Elliot at 11:53 of the first period on a power-play. Andy
Greene made great effort to ensure this goal and Martin Brodeur also assisted
on Langenbrunner's eighth goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Senators 11-10 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading 1-0.
Alexandre Picard beat Martin Brodeur just 39 seconds into the
second period to tie the game, 1-1.
Brian Rolston's slap shot gave the Devils a 2-1 lead with a goal
at 1:53. Mark Fraser and Patrik Elias assisted on Rolston's 12th goal of
the season.
Jarkko Ruutu tied the game again with a goal at 6:06.
A goal from Jay Pandolfo at 18:22 gave the Devils a 3-2 lead.
Rob Niedermayer and Colin White assisted on Pandolfo's second goal of
the season.
The Senators outshot the Devils 10-8 in the second period, but
the Devils led 3-2 on the scoreboard at the end of the period.
Bryce Salvador scored his first goal of the season at 9:52 of
the third period. Rod Pelley and Dean McAmmond assisted on the
goal.
