February 12, 2010 Game 60: Devils Defeat Predators 5-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Nashville Predators 5-2 at the
Prudential Center on Friday, February 12, 2010.
Travis Zajac scored his 19th goal of the season, beating Pekka
Rinne at 9:49 of the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Jamie
Langenbrunner and Zach Parise assisted on the goal.
Col O'Reilly beat Martin Brodeur at 18:30 on a power-play to tie
the game.
The first period ended with the score tied, 1-1. The
Devils outshot the Predators 14-7 in the period.
Jordin Tootoo scored just 46 seconds into the second period to
give Nashville a 2-1 lead.
Patrik Elias tied the game with a goal scored just 1:44 later.
Elias' 11th goal of season was assisted by Mike Mottau.
The Predators outshot the Devils 9-6 in the second period, which
ended with the game tied, 2-2.
Hats rained down onto the ice at 8:24 of the third period when
Ilya Kovalchuk scored his first goal as a Devil. Patrik Elias and Jamie
Langenbrunner assisted on Kovalchuk's 32nd goal of the season.
Zach Parise scored power-play goal at 13:08 to give New Jersey a
4-2 lead. Parise's 27th goal of the season was assisted by Ilya
Kovalchuk and Travis Zajac.
An empty net goal from Jamie Langenbrunner at 19:18 capped the
victory for the Devils.
