December 12, 2011 Game 29: Devils Defeat Lightning 5-4
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 5-4 victory over the Lightning
in Tampa Bay on Monday, December 12, 2011.
Petr Sykora beat Dwayne Roloson just 28 seconds into the first
period. Bryce Salvador and Patrik Elias assisted on Sykora's sixth goal
of the season.
Dainius Zubrus added a power-play goal at 5:38 to make it a 2-0
Devils lead. Zubrus' ninth goal of the season was assisted by Matt
Taormina and Adam Henrique.
Steve Downie beat Johan Hedberg at 17:34 and Blair Jones tied the game
with a goal at 18:54.
Zach Parise scored just 56 seconds into the second period, and
that led to Roloson being replaced. Adam Henrique and Henrik Tallinder
assisted on Parise's ninth goal of the season.
Ilya Kovalchuk made it 4-2 Devils with a goal that beat Mathieu
Garon at 5:42. Zach Parise was credited with the only assist on on
Kovalchuk's ninth goal of the season.
A short-handed goal at 13:23 from Adam Henrique gave the Devils a
three goal lead. Zach Parise and Mark Fayne assisted on Henrique's
seventh goal of the season.
Steven Stamkos scored a power-play goal at 9:29 of the third
period to cut the Devils lead to two goals.
