February 14, 2012 Game 56: KOVALTRICK & Devils Beat Sabres 4-1
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Sabres 4-1 in Buffalo on
Tuesday, February 14, 2012.
Ilya Kovalchuck scored with 36 seconds remaining in the first
period, on a power-play to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Patrik Elias and
David Clarkson assisted on Kovalchuk's 23rd goal of the season.
Thomas Vanek beat Martin Brodeur at 17:19 of the second period to
tie the game, 1-1.
Petr Sykora scored a great power-play goal at 1:44 of the third
period to give the Devils a 2-1 lead. Adam Herique and Ilya Kovalchuk
assisted on Sykora's 13th goal of the season.
&mbsp; Ilya Kovalchuk recorded his second goal of the game at 9:47 to
make it a two goal lead for New Jersey. Adam Henrique and Mark Fayne
assisted on the goal.
The hat trick was completed with just 9 seconds remaining, with
and assist from Zach Parise.
