February 26, 2012 Game 61: Lightning Beat Devils 4-3
The New Jersey Devils were defeated 4-3 at home by the Tampa Bay
Lightning on Sunday, February 26, 2012.
Alexei Ponikarovsky got the Devils on the board first with a goal
that beat Mathieu Garon at 12:07 of the first period. Ponikarovsky's
12th goal of the season was unassisted.
Marek Zidlicky got himself on the scoresheet in his first game
as a Devil by being assessed the first penalty of the game (holding) at 13:04
of the first period.
Martin St. Louis tied the game by beating Martin Brodeur at 6:39
of the second period. He added a power-play goal at 14:55 to give Tampa
a 2-1 lead.
Petr Sykora tied the game at 2:28 of the third period.
Steve Bernier and Dainius Zubrus assisted on Sykora's 15th goal of the
season.
A goal from Matt Gilroy made it 3-2 Tampa at 3:09. Martin
St. Louis completed a hat trick at 10:18.
Zach Parise got the Devils within one goal at 17:25 on a
power-play. Parise's 23rd goal of the season was assisted by Ilya
Kovalchuk and Patrik Elias.
