April 03, 2012 Game 80: Devils Beat Islanders 3-1
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-1 over the New York Islanders
at the Prudential Center on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Patrik Elias got the Devils on the board early, when he beat Al
Montoya just 1:18 into the first period. Number 26's 26th goal of the
season was assisted by Petr Sykora and Mark Fayne.
Matt Moulson beat Johan Hedberg just 2:39 later to tie the game,
1-1.
Travis Zajac scored a power-play goal just 22 seconds into the
second period to give New Jersey a 2-1 lead. Zach Parise and Patrik
Elias assisted on Zajac's second goal of the season.
Ilya Kovalchuk added an empty net goal at 19:05 of the third
period. Zach Parise was credited with the only assist on Kovalchuk's
35th of the season.
Notes: The game was the 500th of Parise's NHL career.
Jacob Josefson left the game and it was announced that he will miss 4-6 weeks
with a fractured wrist.
